While celebrating a late night baseball victory and not being able to distinguish the beverages in their cooler,
Canadian native Linda Pond and her daughter Rhonda Puckett decided they were done being left in the dark.
The pitcher-catcher duo determined their cooler, like their refrigerator at home, needed a light source.
After employing some local engineers,
Linda took their Cooler Light prototype to the outdoor accessories experts at Coghlan’s Ltd.
Coghlan’s agreed to refine the light and help the ladies market their invention worldwide.
The result is a single LED light reflected through an acrylic lens and secured to the underside of the cooler lid with double side adhesive tape.
The light is designed to shine automatically when the lid is raised and to turn off when the cooler is closed.
Unlike the typical refrigerator,
the Cooler Light will shut off automatically after 20 seconds regardless if the lid is shut completely.
As a result of their teamwork, the Cooler Light is available to the sporting markets across the globe.
